PS1 Programming with MIPS Assembly & C Course – Pikuma, May 2024
PS1 Programming with MIPS Assembly & C course by 👑Gustavo Pezzi from Pikuma, May 2024!
Course Description:
PS1 Programming with MIPS Assembly & C Course is a thorough exploration of making games for Sony PlayStation 1. The curriculum contains 35 hours of content covering the hardware architecture of the PS1, teaching students how to code games with both MIPS assembly and C programming languages. The course starts with some basics in MIPS assembly and elevates from there to using a PS1 SDK library and a modern development toolchain.
It allows for learners to render fast polygons efficiently on the console. On the one hand, one doesn’t have to own a PlayStation console itself since all exercises and projects can be executed on PlayStation emulators. Still, on the other hand, if necessary, the course gives some tips on how to burn a CD ISO for optional testing with a physical machine. This self-contined program was designed for people who already have a basic understanding of the concepts of coding, like loops and functions. Still, they have a passion for retro programming, and when they want to understand what happened in the early days of 3D game development.
